C.M. reiterates to accelerate development in Tribal areas


Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister has reiterated his Government's resolve to accelerate development in tribal areas and protect interests of the tribals. He was addressing a public meeting at Gyabung in the inner part of district Kinnaur today after dedicating a bridge over Sunnam Nallah completed at a cost of Rs. 72.56 lac, a bridge over Gyabung Nallah completed at a cost of Rs. 99 lac, a building of Health Sub-Centre Ropa constructed at a cost of Rs. 24.58 lac to the people of the valley. He also performed laying foundation stone of Govt. Middle School at Ropa to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 25.54 lac, foundation stone of Gurukul Awaas to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 23.97 lac and playground of Govt. Senior Secondary School, Gyabung to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 74,25,800 today.

Prof. Dhumal said that Sadak, Shiksha, Swasthaya, Swarozgar, Swablamban and Swabhiman were the priorities of the Government and was moving ahead to achieve the objectives.

Chief Minister said that the State Government had sanctioned 5 Polytechnics to the tribal districts of Kinnaur, Lahaul and Spiti, besides one each for Kullu, Bilaspur and Sirmour districts with a view to provide vocational education facilities to the youth of districts within their reach.

Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal said that present era was that of technically qualified manpower, which had potential for employment of vocational educational institutions in the State, youth would be equipped with skills. He assured the people that the technical and vocational educational institutions network would be strengthen further.

Chief Minister said that State Government has introduced Yashwant Gurukul Awaas Yojna during previous tenure with a view to provide proper boarding and lodging facilities to the teachers deployed in tribal areas and interior of State so that teachers did not face any problem.

Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal said that recruitment process for 18,000 teachers was in progress and the target would be achieved with in stipulated time. He said that Himachal Pradesh had been placed at the top in teacher-student ratio in the country for having one teacher for 30 students.

Chief Minister said that State Government would ensure deployment of three female constables in every police Station. He said that in an Independent Women Police Battalion was being raised in the State. He said that recruitment process to recruit 4500 constables in different Battalion was at different stage of completion.

Chief Minister assured construction of stadium for Govt. Sr. Secondary School, Gyabung to facilitate sports activities in the village.

Chief Minister listened to the grievances of the people at various places enroute Gyabung.

Shri Tejwant Negi MLA welcomed the Chief Minister and thanked him for his visit to the tribal district of Kinnaur. He said that the State including tribal areas were making rapid strides in the matter of development under the dynamic leadership of Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal.

He said that it was historic decision to provide 50 percent reservation to women in PRIs providing women opportunities to contribute in developmental process.

Shri Negi urged the Chief Minister to get Nautor cases of tribal people settled and land allotted to them on priority. He thanked Chief Minister for sanctioning one Ice skating Rink for the district, one Polytechnic for which Rs. 2 crore had also been provided by the State Government.

Shri Dharam Prakash Negi welcomed the Chief Minister for his two days visit to the district.

Shri Sita Ram Pradhan Gram Panchayat also spoke.

Shri Chet Ram Negi, former MLA, Smt. Chander Mani Negi, Chairperson Zila Parishad, Shri Surat Singh Negi, President Kinnaur District BJP, Shri Vidya Sagar Negi, Former Chairman Zila Parishad and senior officers of the district administration were present on the occasion among others.
