An enactment of the life of Lord Rama, called - Ramlila, based on the epic text of the Ramayana is held during the nine days preceding Dussehra. On the tenth day larger than life effigies of Ravana are set to fire with much fanfare across India. Durga Puja: The annual festival of Durga Puja marks the end of evil at the hand of the Goddess Durga in Hindu mythology.
