VAHAN - Transportation Initiatives: Ministry of Road Transportation & Highways in consultation with National Informatics Centre (NIC) is implementing the National Transport Project at all the RTOs/DTOs across the country. This is one of the Mission Mode Project under the National e-Governance Plan.
NIC was entrusted the task to standardize and deploy the software VAHAN for Vehicle Registration and SARATHI for Driving Licence and compilation of data with respect to Vehicle Registration and Driving License of all the states at State Register and National Register.
VAHAN - an ICT based solution for Vehicle Registration, and SARTHI - one stop solution to Licensing are conceptualized to capture the functionalities as mandated by Central Motor Vehicle Act (CMVA) 1988 as well as State Motor Vehicle Rules.

National Test Scheme Results: The NTS Web Page, launched in May - 2011, with a Public Opinion Poll feature to seek responses from various stakeholders proved to be a major success.
The exercise elicited significant responses from citizens, both on the Opinion Poll as well as the Scheme's dedicated web page on popular social networking site Facebook, wherein about 26% of the respondents favoured the proposed institution of NTS.
A detailed report on the findings has been subsequently prepared by the D/o Science and Technology research team, and can be accessed via the following links: Enhanced Services: The following services have been newly added to the "Other Services" tab of the "How Do I?" section on the National Portal of India - - Get 'Aadhaar' Number: Aadhaar is a 12-digit unique number which the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) will issue to all residents of India. This service specifies for the user all details of the procedure for obtaining a UID, including the application process, timeline and benefits.
- Pay Service Tax Online: Service Tax is an indirect tax that is levied on services rendered by a service provider. Citizens can find herein all the information pertaining to E-payment of Service Tax, including the process, timings, target audience, benefits and details of concerned authority.
- Apply for Jobs under MNREGA: The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) aims at enhancing the livelihood security of people in rural areas by guaranteeing 100 days of wage-employment in a financial year. This service elaborates for the users the entire process of availing the benefits of MNREGA - including registration process, obtaining a job card and where to direct related grievances, if any.

Independence Day: India's Independence Day on 15th August, celebrates its independence from British rule and its birth as a sovereign nation on that day in 1947. All over the country, flag-hoisting ceremonies are conducted by the local administration. The main event takes place in New Delhi, where the Prime Minister hoists the National Flag at the Red Fort and delivers a nationally televised speech from its ramparts. Raksha Bandhan: 'Raksha Bandhan' or 'Rakhi' is a special occasion to celebrate the bonding between a brother and a sister. This unique bond of love and affection is celebrated by the tying of a Rakhi or holy thread by the sister around the wrist of her brother. Sisters pray for their brothers' long life. Brothers, in turn, give them gifts and vow to protect and care for them throughout life.
